Notable Accomplishments:
In 17 trials representing civil defendants, 11 defense verdicts ($0) and 3 awards below $1,000.
Represented a defendant in an auto versus pedestrian case in which the plaintiff suffered two broken legs and a fractured eye socket. Jury returned a defense verdict.
Represented the defendant in the first "expedited jury trial" in Riverside County history. Plaintiff claimed over $20,000 in medical bills; the jury returned an award of $904. The case was profiled in the Daily Journal.
Represented defendant in admitted liability case in which the plaintiff sought $290,000 for future spinal fusion. Jury verdict of $300 was profiled in California Verdict Search, Vol. 9, Issue 44.
Obtained defense verdicts in 5 trials for clients whose liability was admitted.
Community Involvement:
As Chairman of the Long Beach Bar Association Scholarship Program, has raised and distributed over $100,000 in college scholarship money to top high school students in Long Beach. As an intern at the White House Office of Public Liaison in 1995, coordinated White House events with Veterans and Law Enforcement organizations. Has also worked as a fundraiser, speechwriter, and campaign director in local, state, and national politics.
Has served as coach and referee in AYSO Local 177 and the Long Beach Parks & Rec Youth Soccer League. Played first-base on the Alpert JCC softball team that won the 2007 Long Beach Men's Championship, and currently plays forward for the Gilbert Kelly basketball team, champions of the Landau Lawyers' Basketball League.
