Ronald Mawhinney is a trial attorney who focuses his practice on construction
litigation, personal injury,
property damage, and general casualty litigation, specializing in insurance and
construction law. He taught secondary mathematics for the Los Angeles Unified School
District, and then in December of 1990 he completed the Legal Assistant Training
Program at the University of California at Los Angeles. In January of 1991, he
began his employment with the law firm Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett LLP, at
which time he was introduced to the world of construction defect litigation. Throughout high school, college, and for a number of years thereafter,
Mr. Mawhinney had been employed as a machinist, metal fabricator, iron worker and
arc/TIG welder, building automation machinery and industrial manufacturing
facilities. As well as the practice of law in the construction arena, he
currently enjoys designing and building ornamental iron works such as wrought
iron patio structures and furniture. He serves as a settlement officer for the
Los Angeles Superior Court and has presented numerous CLE courses focusing on
construction litigation and claims.
