JON H. TISDALE

Specializes in:
Defense of Products Liability, Premises Liability, Environmental Torts and Catastrophic Injury cases.

Education:
University of Southern California Law School (J.D. 1980); California State Polytechnic University (B.A.-History 1977)

Court Affiliations:
All California Superior and Appellate Courts, United States District Court, United States Court of Appeals, Arbitrator and Mediator with Los Angeles Superior Court.

Member:
Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the usual Bar Associations.

Author:
Nothing legal, but a number of very good recipes.

Lecturer:
Los Angeles Superior Court Training Program for young lawyers, Pacific Claims Executives presentations and numerous MCLE presentations.

Reason for becoming a lawyer:
Never could tolerate losing an argument, so Marriage and Family Counselor was out of the question. Relished the competition of trial work in which somebody wins . . . and somebody doesn't. Always liked the challenge of creative resolutions of complicated problems.

What he likes best about practicing at GKC&J:
A very different attitude and approach to a dignified profession. We believe that the ethics and integrity of the legal profession can go hand in hand with a relaxed office environment and a working relationship in which co-workers and even clients are also friends.

Greatest win/moment:
Winning the Championship Flight of the 2000 Cravens Invitational with partner Kevin Hatcher. (Hint: this is not a lawsuit.)

Hobbies and Passions:
Cooking and golf. Best New Dishes: Sage-crusted Roasted Pork Medallions on Basil & Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Creole Sauce and Balsamic Asparagus; Lobster Risotto. Best Wins: 1998 S.C.G.A. Amateur Net Championship (Indian Wells), 2000 Cravens Invitational at San Gabriel Country Club (Championship Flight), 2001 Sartori Invitational at The Los Angeles Country Club (Westwood Flight).

Words of Wisdom:
Never give up when you are playing with amateurs; if fact, just never give up. Show me a person who doesn't mind losing . . . and I will show you two things: (1) a loser and (2) someone against whom I would like to play every match or try every case.
