Throughout the past three decades, Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett has developed a skilled practice in the field of construction law, representing developers, general contractors, sub-contractors, architects, engineers, insurance carriers and self-insured corporations involved in construction casualty/accident claims of every type imaginable.  We have represented clients in delay claims as well as allegations of improper and defective construction and design.  We have litigated complex insurance coverage matters (first and third party issues) on behalf of numerous insurance carriers and economically resolved large construction defect cases.  We have gained a reputation for establishing quick and efficient control over large cases through the effective use of quality experts, mediation, and our extensive experience litigating a wide variety of construction related matters.

In addition to our experience and expertise in the liability aspects of construction work, we are also experienced and well versed in the inevitable and varied insurance questions that arise from this complex area of litigation.  Evaluating the availability and extent of liability coverage, contractual and equitable indemnification issues, mediations and arbitrations, settlement conferences and all manner of insurance-related consulting and litigation can all be handled with the efficiency, expertise, and professionalism we at GKC&J have become known for over the past 50 years.

Litigation is our primary experience base with a history of over 50 years of successful results.  We have the ability and the talent to field experienced lead counsel and the support of trained associates, law clerks and paralegals necessary to get the job done in complex cases.  When construction defect cases move into the multi-track expert deposition phase, we have the ability to staff them with a true litigation team, where each member is thoroughly trained in every aspect of construction litigation.  Further, our construction litigation and transaction teams work closely with our insurance coverage department so as to insure that all possible financial resources to bear the costs of these claims are maximized.

In addition to our ability to provide legal services to our clients regarding construction-related litigation matters from the pre-litigation, initial claims handling stage through the trial and appellate stages, we have a department of skilled transactional attorneys to assist our clients through the development, negotiation and preparation of construction contracts, architectural, engineering and design agreements, professional service agreements, purchase orders, payment and performance bonds, mechanics’ liens, stop notices, notices of completion, consulting agreements and construction management agreements.  By really understanding our clients and their businesses, we can assist them from the ground up.
